Netherlands Email Addresses Are Changing

EDIT 2:
On August 1, 2012 addressees at wanadoo.nl and orange.nl will be migrated over to online.nl (more information here). We recommend requesting that your subscribers update their subscription preferences since the migration has the potential to generate hard bounces for wanadoo.nl and orange.nl domains. The MailChimp segmenting tools help make this much, much easier.

Campaign to Update Subscription Preferences

1) Segment your list down to just the wanadoo.nl and orange.nl addresses. Go to Lists > View List > View All > segment
Your segment should look very similar to this:

2) Send to this segment by clicking the "send to" button.

3) Create your campaign informing your subscribers of this change and include the *|UPDATE_PROFILE|* merge tag. This will direct your customers to the form where they can change their current address to their new online.nl address.

Save and Remove Addresses

On August 1st, all of your @wanadoo.nl and @orange.nl address will most likely hard bounce. Excessive hard bounces will cause your account to be automatically shut down, and we really want to avoid that! We recommend saving and removing these addresses from your list before sending any campaigns on or after August 1st.

1) Segment your list down to just the wanadoo.nl and orange.nl addresses. Go to Lists > View List > View All > segment
Your segment should look very similar to this:

2) Click Download Segment to export all your subscribers to a CSV file.
Click download segment.

You will be prompted to save the exported file, but be sure to stay on this page once you’re done getting the segment out of the list.

3) Double check the CSV file to make sure all the addresses are there. We like to play it safe and make sure everything worked out.

4) In MailChimp, delete the segment with wanadoo.nl and orange.nl addresses. Click "Select Visible". Click "Bulk Actions", then "delete".

The bulk delete action will delete up to 100 subscribers at a time, so large lists will need to preform this step a few times to clear out all the emails.
