Mysterious “Equals Sign” in HTML Email

When we were first putting together our free HTML email newsletter templates, we tested them on AOL and noticed a strange "equals sign" kept showing up at the very bottom of our HTML messages.

After a good bit of experimenting, we finally found the culprit — you need to add an extra line break at the bottom of your HTML email, just after the closing </HTML> tag. If you don’t add that extra line break, you’ll get the equals sign in AOL9, and Outlook 2000.
