I can hardly believe it myself, but apparently it’s November—and that means it’s time to get your holiday email marketing plan in order.
We recently surveyed 1,067 of MailChimp’s e-commerce and retail customers about their holiday email marketing plans, and it’s no surprise that 100% of them said they’re going to use email to encourage sales. But we also know there are some folks out there who might need a little encouragement: 106,457 MailChimp users haven’t sent a campaign since last holiday season, and 2.3 million new users have signed up and registered in 2014 alone.
There are lots of important factors to consider when you’re sending holiday emails, but today let’s talk design. Whether you’re new to MailChimp or just looking to freshen up your email design, here are some of my favorite sources of inspiration.
Look What You Can Do
Our users send beautifully designed campaigns, and we often find ourselves sharing the prettiest ones that pop up in our inboxes. We started collecting our favorites on our Inspiration Page a few years ago, and it now includes more than 450 examples of stellar campaigns sent through MailChimp. Many of the folks we’ve featured have told me they’ve referenced the page when working on their own email designs.
Really Good Emails
Looking for some more general examples ? Check out Really Good Emails. It’s constantly updated with new emails sent through a variety of ESPs, not just MailChimp. Browse the page or sign up for the rather meta Really Good Emails email newsletter about really good emails.
Email Design Guide
Over at our Email Design Guide, you’ll find tips and advice on a range of topics to help you convey your message in style. Think of it as an easy-to-follow best practices guide for email design, covering topics like content, color, and calls to action. Learn how to better use your content design elements and finally get that Black Friday email scheduled.
Design aside, getting that newsletter together and hitting send can be a daunting task. Perhaps our Getting Started With MailChimp guide is in order? That one—and many more—can be found on our resources page.
Feeling inspired? I sure hope so. Once you’re finished with your gorgeous campaigns, I hope you get to celebrate the holidays the way they were meant to be: filled with family, food, and high fives.
