MailChimp integrates with a number of different services that allow you to send surveys via email, and SurveyGizmo is one that we like a lot. They make it easy for noobs to get started but also provide an extremely robust feature set for power users. (Kinda like MailChimp.)

If you’re familiar with our other “360″ integrations (as in degrees, full circle)– like Analytics360 or Ecommerce360– you’ll know that we refer to them as such because your email leaves MailChimp, does a little data mingling with another service or services, and then that data ultimately gets pulled back into our application. Truth in advertising!

Our SurveyGizmo 360 integration follows the same scheme. When you send out an email containing a specially generated SurveyGizmo link and your subscribers answer your questionnaire, that data gets pulled back into your MailChimp Reports. While not as visually appealing or robust as SurveyGizmo’s built in reporting features, it will allow you to view responses at a glance.

unsub_surveyOne of the features we recently implemented in MailChimp V5 is an unsubscribe survey so that your users can tell you why they no longer want to receive your emails.

While this feature is a step in the right direction, it clearly doesn’t help our international users to only have the form available in English. That’s why we’re asking for your help with translations in the 30+ languages we support elsewhere in the app.

Just head over to the form we’ve set up, select the language you can help translate, and enter the appropriate text for the six multiple choice selections. We’ll be compiling and comparing these for the next couple months and will keep you posted when they go live in the app. Also: If you’re willing to and have time, we’d love your help translating the text elements of our new polling feature so that we can offer that in multiple languages as well. You’ll see these fields at the bottom of the unsubscribe survey translation form.


Karen Gedney from Clickz interviewed Ellen Sills-Levy and Claire Tinker at ESL Insights and discovered thatĀ  surveying C-level executives is a little different form surveying the average joe. And it’s not because they have no idea what “Win an iPod Shuffle” means. Here’s something I’ve never considered:

“Besides having a very busy audience, you are dealing with boundaries of nondisclosure and usually not being able to accept anything of monetary value as an incentive for participating in a survey.”

So what do you offer if you want to send a survey to C-level execs? The article’s got a lot of great advice, like instead of that iPod shuffle, offer to give a donation to their favorite charity, or an executive summary of the research findings.

They’ve got a few tips for copywriting and subject lines, too (I’d just add that you should include your company name in the subject line, to boost recognition).
