Ever thought you could monetize your subscriber list by selling ads in your email newsletters?

There’s a right way to do that, and ooooh-so-many wrong ways to do it. In a nutshell, you can’t just give your subscriber list to an advertiser to “blast” whatever they want to your list. The email has to come from you, and it has to be written by you (your subscribers opted-in to hear from you, not them).

Here’s a GOOD example from Simple Shoes on how to advertise someone else’s stuff (Horny Toad) to your own newsletter subscribers. In fact, I’m not even sure I can call it a “list rental.” That’s how good it is.

It’s well-written, simple, and even a little fun to read. Kudos to whoever their agency is.
