Thanks for all the easily actionable tips and for pointing me to the 1000 True Fans article. I didn't get Twitter (@thefamous) at first either, but I've found it to be an incredibly powerful tool for connecting with other people who share your interests.

Great post! I agree the internet is fantastic for independents. I love Twitter because it is quick and easy. I write on a few blogs but Twitter is more fun and less time consuming. It is so important to be good to your fans and to stay in touch. I am working on my next email campaign promoting our new podcast episode using my favorite MailChimp to send.Another tool out there for independents is a new microstore widget from thebizmo.com You can sell songs, concert tickets, videos, t-shirts, and more all from a little microstore. It is still in beta but I have one set up and it is pretty cool. The internet is making it possible for all of us independents to do what we love and make some money at the same time. Now that's a good thing.

Thanks for this. I agree the internet is fantastic for independents.
I love Twitter because it is quick and easy.
