One of the questions we sometimes get from customers who are new to email marketing is ‘how do I send attachments with my newsletter?’ We’ve always had to tell them that they can’t send attachments with MailChimp. If you want to send a document or pdf to your subscribers you need to upload it to MailChimp and then link to the file in your campaign.
This is a good solution for some of our customers, but not all of them. For example, many of our customers want to offer a free guide or white paper as an incentive to opt-in to their email list or as a reward for their loyal subscribers. But, they may be selling the paper or guide to their general audience. They need a way to send unique, restricted download links just to their email subscribers.
Other customers want their file attachments to reach as many people as possible, but they also want to keep track of who’s downloading the file and who’s forwarding it on to more people. They might want to send a personal thank you to their biggest supporters, the ones who helped spread the word the most.
Digioh is an online service that makes sending digital files to your MailChimp subscribers fast, easy and secure thanks to their new MailChimp integration. In fact, over 10,000 files have already been downloaded and tracked by MailChimp subscribers using the integration.
Here is how it works:
Step 1: Go to digioh.com/mailchimp
Step 2: Create an account (you’ll only need to enter your email and a password to get signed up)
Step 3: Upload your file & select your file security level
Step 4: Paste the secure link that Digioh provides you into your MailChimp newsletter
Want to offer a free download to people who subscribe to your mailing list? Just paste your secure link into your welcome email in MailChimp and you’re good to go.
After you send out your newsletter you can log in to Digioh to monitor how many times your file has been downloaded, who downloaded it, and who forwarded your file on (if you decide to allow non-subscribers to download your file).

Thanks for the Twitter love Kristy! I will be using your travel tips to plan my honeymoon coming up pretty soon.
Any plans to have that tracking data available in MC?
Hi Derek,
Thanks for the comment!
No plans currently but we would be open to it. What specific tracking data are you looking for?
Rishi
This is awesome! I’ve been waiting for something like this.
Thanks for the awesome writeup!
MailChimpers – Feel free to ask us any questions or give us feature requests. Happy to help you out in anyway we can.
Thanks Rishi. I am also one of the developers of this solution. We definitely welcome any feedback you have for us. And if you have any questions on the technical end, I’d be happy to help you with those as well.
I just joined MC two weeks ago and was really bummed something like this wasn’t included. And voila! Thanks!
Now, if I could just figure out how to insert my images properly…
Hi Jeremy,
Follow this step by step guide here to insert images:

Let me know if you have any questions.

Except it’s $19.99 per month for more than 10 downloads per month….
Hi Jeremy – This is Rishi one of the founders of Digioh.
Thanks for letting us know how you feel. We are still figuring out the right price point for this offering. What price would make sense to you?
Hi @Rishi
This is extremely useful for me. Both now and in the future. Any consideration opening up Pricing option below $5 per month? I agree with Jeremy as $19.99 per month is probably too much for some other people. Thanks.
Hi Ari,
I’m glad to hear that you find our service useful.
Our lowest priced package costs $9.99/mo and our top package costs $14.99/mo. It also comes with a 14-day free trial and you can cancel anytime. Does that work for you?

What price would work for you? We have a plan that is $9.99/mo.

It’s only last week that I emailed Mailchimp support asking if there was a way to include a secure download for new subscribers. So, when I first saw this new feature from Digioh I thought “wow, my wish has been answered!’
But then I’m afraid I was very disappointed to see it’s only free for up to just 10 downloads per month. There are a couple of comments here from Rishi about the cost, but I’d say that rather than focus on the cost, I’d rather focus on the number of downloads.
Mailchimp offers their free plan to anybody with up to 2000 subscribers, so the Digioh free plan for up to 10 downloads seems way way too low in my opinion. That’s just 0.5% of the Mailchimp free limit (if I’ve got my maths right). I don’t want to sound tight, but I’d much rather see a larger free limit.
I’m a member of a band that doesn’t have a huge following. We don’t make a profit from what we do, and at the moment we’re in debt. We love tools that help us build our fanbase, and Mailchimp is amazing. If and when we get to the point when we have over 2000 subscribers, I would gladly pay to use Mailchimp. But, if we integrate with Digioh to offer new subscribers free music downloads, we’re going to have to pay pretty much from the outset, which we can’t afford to do.
Hi Albert,
Thanks for your comment and feedback – it is greatly appreciated.
The beauty of Digioh is we can seriously help you gain a larger following. At the bottom of your newsletters you should include a tag line that says the following:
“Want a bonus free track? Help us get the word out. Get 3 of your friends to signup for our newsletter and we will send you a free track.”
Once you send the campaign out you can take a look in your Digioh HQ to see which one of your subscribers got 3 people to sign up for your mp3.
After you have gotten a few new subscribers you can setup an auto-responder through MailChimp and sell them your entire album. You can use Digioh to sell the entire album – we make the entire process super easy! (Let me know if you need help setting up the auto-responder).
We offer a 14-day free trial and our lowest paid package starts at $9.99/mo. The cost of having 2000 subscribers downloading an mp3 isn’t cheap. In order to stay in business we have to charge.
I really think we can help you grow your fans by leveraging Digioh and MailChimp together. If your album costs $5 all you need is 2 sales a month to make your money back with Digioh.
We would really love to work with you and I think we can really help you make money and grow your fan base.
Rishi
Rishi,
This is a great feature to offer. Let me confirm that I have the pricing right:
* For free, I can upload one file that can be downloaded up to 10 times.
* For $9.99/month, I can have up to 10 different files, each of which can be downloaded an unlimited number of times (as long as the total bytes transferred don’t exceed 1GB/month).
* For $14.99/month, I can have an unlimited number of different files, each of which can be downloaded an unlimited number of times (as long as the total bytes transferred don’t exceed 10GB/month).
Assuming this is right, I suggest also offering a yearly rate that provides a 40-60% discount from the monthly rate, such as $49.99/year or $59.99/year for the first paid level.
Thanks,
Steve
Hi Steve,
Yes, that is correct.
We’d be happy to offer yearly rates at a discount. We don’t have yearly plans available just yet but send us an email and we will hook you up!
