Our goal is to eventually have full integration between MailChimp and all the major CRMs. It’s why we’ve invested so much into building a robust API.
Our first “baby step” in that direction is our recent integration with Salesforce.com and Highrise (37signals’ CRM product). If you’re a MailChimp user, you can now give us your Salesforce or Highrise information, and we’ll import your customers into a list, so you can send an email campaign to them (and track opens, clicks, etc).
We call this a “baby step” because for now, it’s a one-way conversation. In future releases, we’ll introduce functionality to sync data “both ways.” Stay tuned.
Batchbook is an exception to all this. Their CRM is MailChimp-ready right out of the box, so the integration is easy and seamless (check out their demo video here). You can quickly build segments within Batchbook by searching your customer “tags” and “super tags.” Then, you pass the list over to MailChimp with the click of a button. MailChimp gives them two opposable thumbs up!
Any chance you could do integration with SugarCRM?
You should focus on SalesForce, it’s the largest and most popular CRM. Personally I’d love to be able to see on lead and contact records in the activity history section an archive of all mail sent to them using mailchimp. Check out how ExactTarget does their integration with SF.
We too anticipate the addition of a Salesforce API. That is the ETA on that please?
Salesforce while very popular is also extremely overpriced. Small business generall can’t afford salesforce because they charge an arm and a let, and then take the other for any additional add-ons you may need.
Don’t waste time with Salesforce, it’s too complicated. We love Highrise and all its simplicity. KISS theory always wins in the long run.
Hi Stan, you’re off topic. Salesforce is a great system, we are a not for profit (try tracking donors and network cooperations with highrise) and I am delighted to hear Mail Chimp are integrating with all these platforms. I also second the fact that Salesforce does have a very large and happy customer base, us included!
Highrise works for the majority of businesses, entrepreneurs and people out there that need to manage their sales. Salesforce is great for large companies!
Does this service import Highrise tags in order to target emails? When you send an email, does it create a Highrise note in the contact’s history?
Second the sugarcrm request.
Any plans to integrate with Microsoft Dynamics?
@Ken – we haven’t seen any way to pull tags out of Highrise through their API. We *have* seen ways to pass campaign information back to Highrise, though, and we’re considering that for our next update. Batchbook CRM users are asking us for the same thing.
However, we’re not totally sure the “Notes” area is the best place for that. Can you (or any other HR users) confirm?
Ben:
When you say pass data back into highrise. Are you referring to opens, reads, clicks, etc. back into HR?
So we could view certain individual performance of our mail chimp campaigns inside of HR?
We for instance port into our HR account any Freshbooks automated emails into the notes section.
This allows us to look up a client and see their latest transactions and communications (if they got a late invoice or estimate notice for instance).
But this was a custom solution.
Highrise tags are now officially accessible via the API:
http://developer.37signals.com/highrise/tags.shtml
@Ben the tough bit is that then your campaign results are buried in the person’s notes. If you are using HR tags to segment your contacts, that means syncing those notes with the tags…
I noticed on the FAQ that “currenly only Enterprise and Unlimited editions support the API”
However professional allows for the API component to be downloaded for $35usd a month…would this work?
@Ben, you can fetch a list of all tags from the Highrise API at /tags.xml. I’m not sure this is in the docs, but from the forums it appears to have worked for a few years. With those tag IDs, it’s possible to fetch groups of people via the usual documented API.
Thanks James, I’ve FWD’d that on to our API team.
Thanks Ben! Regarding your earlier question, there’s a full-fledged email entry API in HighRise which would be ideal for recording the message they got from MailChimp: http://tinyurl.com/b8wmho
This would be the best way to record mailchimp communication with a HR contact.
I would be happy with recording the email as sent (via mailchimp or anyother email package – currently I use the HR Dropbox method for non-batch emails). The tracking and reviewing whether they opened or not I would be happy to manage through mailchimp as I would be viewing an entire campaign.
I think tags are not useful to move between the programmes, you can use tags in HR to create a list that you wish to mail from mailchimp and just move that list.
I second Dynamics CRM Online. They have a very robust API and the product is really good.
any further updates with regard to full integration with SalesForce?
Desperately want to be able to see click and open rates within SalesForce without updating manually.
Yeah, I would love this too. Also, it would be great if Mailchimp could update Salesforce with bounces and unsubscribes too. Pweeez, pwetty pweez!
I would agree I would love to see it update Salesforce’s bounce, and click rates
We’re planning an upgrade to our Salesforce integration for MailChimp v4.2. It’ll be more of a 2-way integration, though I’m not sure how deep it’ll be, or whether or not it’ll include bounce syncing. We’ll keep everyone posted.
Ben – when is MailChimp v4.2 scheduled for release? And do you know if the current MailChimp/Salesforce integration is also compatible with the non-profit version of SFDC?
Any update on this? June is now upon us and I’m desperate to get some SalesForce two-way integration going.
Pretty please!
I am eagerly awaiting the Salesforce sych integration… I want to dump my email program and use only MailChimp… any hint as to when the upgrade is coming?
We are working with a local developer on an CRM solution that may include SalesForce. Please, pretty please …. could we get full integration by year’s end?
Could please someone tell me the status about the API interface Mailchimp Salesforce.
Is that right, that we need to develop our own salesforce integration? This is how I understand Ben’s comment.
Heap CRM (http://heap.wbpsystems.com/) is a very nice CRM : very easy and very affordable, mailmerges with google docs.
they have a API.
It is still not very well known.. would you consider giving a look and tell if you will consider building a link/sync ?
Heap is now connected to mailchimp : automatic update of unsubscribes, automatic import of new subscribers : it all works perfect ! Heap support is really outstanding : I put a feature request the same day as here, and here it is done !
if you are looking for simplicity and effectiveness, have a look to Heap !
why isn’t MailChimp listed in the AppExchange directory?
SUGARCRM would be great, this is what they are missing…
I’m not a MailChimp customer, but I’m considering it for our company. Integration with SugarCRM would be a HUGE incentive.
I’m not too technical, so forgive me if this is a dumb question, but could our tech department integrate MailChimp with Sugar using your API? Basically, if we have the know-how, is it something we can do on our own?
Steve – yes, you could definitely do the integration yourself and pull data out. If you wanted to get real fancy, if Sugar has something for creating/sending campaigns, you could hook that up to send through us. Actually a plugin/addon that did all of that would probably be a hit for other CRM users if you were so inclined to polish it up and put it out.
I’d be interested in support for Tactile CRM. http://www.tactilecrm.com
As Iook at solution for us with Tactile in the middle I’ve got API integration with Zendesk for support and tickets on one side and FreshBooks at the other side, if I could have MailChimp part of the party – and all the clients we manage on WordPress. That’s almost complete for us and our clients.
Thanks for putting this together!
Would love to see an integration with SugarCRM so we could implement.
I hear someone may be working on a SugarCRM integration w/MailChimp. If we find out more, we’ll post here. So stay tuned to our blog for more details.
Any updates on Sugar CRM link with Mailchimp?
Please add NetSuite to your list of CRMs!
I would put my vote into SugarCRM intergration as well. Although it seems like the 5.5 version is going to be make a lot of changes to the web services interfaces. I would hope they would keep the old version for awhile too anyways though.
A Salesforce vote here.
Integrating with the other top web CRM systems such as Sugar and NetSuite would be a hit. We would use MailChimp more often. And Sugar and NetSuite’s price points are more for small/med business – Like those of MailChimp!
My customer has asked me to integrate MS CRM 4.0 with MailChimp API. When do you think MailChimp would implement this link? Otherwise I will need to program it myself. What sort of functionality would be offered? Would the CRM get notified once a response comes to MailChimp?
Add my vote to SugarCRM integration…
I would really love to see mailchimp fully integrated into netsuite (www.netsuite.com) I mean fully integrated to the point where I can do everything right there in netsuite. Because then I could give my staff access to certain email marking functions in netsuite and thats all they have unlike with mailchimp i can only give them all or nothing for access which is ok because using netsuite would also be one less place to login.
Third the request for MSFT’s Online Dynamics CRM. You have a great product and I’d like to painlessly be able to make full use of it…Thanks!
I vote for VTiger CRM integration
Hey, this news is OLD. What is the news with Highrise???
Vilhelm – what do you need to know about the Highrise integration? Sorry, this is a loooong thread. We’ve since added some functionality:
http://blog.mailchimp.com/passing-subscriber-activity-back-to-salesforce-and-highrise-crms/
It is mailchimp or newsberry. newsberry wins on simplicity and so fare on integration with highrise. But I like the functionality that you guys offers. It will carry us much further… You satisfy my desire to do cool stuff ,-) but really the killer argument would be if I just had seemless integration with Highrise. Nothing more and nothing less. When I update a contact in highrise it is updated in mailchimp. And sure I probably want a lot of other stuff that I cant really think of right now ;-)
Full 2-way SALESFORCE integration is a must!
It would be a HUGE benefit to both customer bases and we would talk real loud and proud at the upcoming users conference in San Francisco next month!!!
This would be SOOOOOO useful with MS Dynamics CRM. The campaign/marketing lists that it has are great, but combined with the ability to have easy HTML email creation and open and click data would be a marketer’s dream! Pleasssssssssssse!!
Another vote for SugarCRM and Netsuite here.
Another vote for SugarCRM.
salesforce 2 way integration is a must!
A full salesforce app is in the works
Great, could you please post the news on this thread (I’m subscribed to it)
Nov. 22, 2009
I guess they’ve are making announcements related to SalesForce.com on other parts of the website instead of here. Enter SalesForce into the search box at the top of the MailChimp website.
Here is one of the results
http://blog.mailchimp.com/passing-subscriber-activity-back-to-salesforce-and-highrise-crms/
Is anyone from your company going to be out at the Salesforce conference in San Francisco next week? If so, we’d love to meet up!
Would love to see Netsuite integration. I been a Netsuite user for 3 years and have recently begun sennding out our campaigns via Mailchimp. Based on our results from improved deliverability and price point, you’d have a flood of Netsuite users signing up. I for one would be the first to post a great review in the Netsuite user group. Please let us know if it’s on your road map.
Please add IFS CRM to the list as well..Thanks!
Another vote for MS Dynamics CRM 4.0. I would even be willing to setup a temporary instance for you to use to do testing.
How close are you guys to getting full integration with Salesforce?
see my comment above
I agree that KISS is typically a good thing, but looking at blog.mailchimp.com/customers these enterprises imho may tend to use Salesforce.com over most of the other CRMs mentioned above.
As a big Mailchimp fan and consultant to typically larger clients, I would like to support any initiative in a deeper Salesforce.com integration.
Cheers,
mike
Thanks Mike. We have a deeper SF integration already in progress. Not sure on launch ETA though.
Any ETA on salesforce integration?
We’re looking at purchasing a CRM right now and this could strongly impact our decision. Is Mail Chimp going to integrate with Act! at any point?
Hi Sarah, There are no plans internally to integrate w/ACT through our API. 3rd parties might do it, and there are ways you can use MailChimp in conjunction with ACT, but in terms of a direct integration, it’s not on the roadmap.
It’s a shame you’re not considering integration with ACT! Swiftpage have done a good job with this but their pricing is exploitative as they are the only player in town.
What about integration with Sharepoint? We may redevelop our database/CRM in Sharepoint. Any solutions to connect the two seemlessly?
Thanks,
T
Ben,
Any update on when you’ll have a more robust integration with Salesforce (similar to ExactTarget or Vertical Response)? We like MailChimp but need to have email analytics inside Salesforce in order to not have to manually create a unified marketing funnel/sales pipeline report.
Thanks.
We’ve actually got something a little more robust coming soon, though that’s a project I’m not very close to, so am not sure of its ETA.
Any news on the integration with Netsuite
Would like to know when the newest release of Mail Chimp that integrates with Sales Force comes out. Probably won’t sign up for Mail Chimp until the integration goes both ways!
Thanks!
SugarCRM integration would be AWESOME!!!!!
Matt, there’s a group of people over in the jungle collaborating on SugarCRM integration: http://jungle.mailchimp.com/group/mailchimpsugarcrmusers
So is the Highrise integration up to the integration level that Batchbook was or is now? I haven’t seen any updates.
I’m deciding which is the BEST between HR and Batch because I already know I want to use the Chimp.
Opinions?? HELP!
if you are considering HR or batchbook you are looking for something simple, have a look at heap.wbpsystems.com you’ll love it itis more powerfull than both yet very simple and it is connected to mailchimp..
I also forgot to ask, did more integration with HR ever happen – as mentioned here:
http://blog.mailchimp.com/tag/highrise/
Hi Andy, we did this:
http://blog.mailchimp.com/passing-subscriber-activity-back-to-salesforce-and-highrise-crms/
Full integration yet?
Hi out there,
I´d really love to integrate MC with Salesforce – but I don´t know how to start. Is there kind of a manual telling me which steps to take?
Hi Jürgen,
You’d want to start out by importing your list into MailChimp from Salesforce – the steps to do so can be found at this link: http://eepurl.com/iVK8
Once your list is connected and you’re sending campaigns to your subscribers, we’ll start passing data back into Salesforce for you: http://eepurl.com/iVLD
Can you do this for Highrise too? I’m working with Newsberry and I find it frustrating that I cant update client information between my email marketing campaigns and my crm.
We’re gearing up to purchase mailchimp for the 10,000 – 25,000 subscribers plan. I saw this write up, and am wondering, since we use highrise, if this will take new emails entered into highrise and add to the email list that we already have.
I’d prefer to just export the mail list to excel file as is, and build from there, because this way I can delete company email addresses that have made their way into highrise, as well as some of the few bad clients we’ve had in the past.
It looks like you can only import the entire salesforce database. Am I correct in that I cannot import segmented lists from salesforce using filters (e.g. not entire database, only contacts with a specific “tag”)
Cat, did you try the newer one we posted for review here?
http://jungle.mailchimp.com/group/salesforce/forum/topics/feedback-please-new-mailchimp
Ben,
Thanks! If this works this looks like it might be exactly what we need and will go some way in making mail chimp a lot more “sticky” around here if you get me.
Cat
Ok I tried to “get” this version, it sent me to login to salesforce and then back to the page you liked to above? How can I get this??
cat
Ok…I think it’s working…hopefully…
Is there documentation on this. I’m trying to add subscribers from an active campaign but that pop up is empty even though I have active campaigns…???
Hi Cat, The developer of the app is actually lurking in that group I linked to. They’re actively looking for questions and feedback over there.
Please add integration with Zoho CRM
just my two cents for integration with zoho crm
thanks
It would be helpful if Mail Chimp could look at the integration with ZohoCRM a terrific alternative to higher priced CRM solutions. Their APIs are very robust. Please let me know if you make any efforts toward this venture.
It looks like one D.Kyle and others are potential Zoho lakeys (meant in the affectionate term, you guys do great stuff too).
If I’m right (sure, I may have the wrong end of the stick) is there not a way to contact Mailchimp directly and start giving them designs or solutions for integration if you want it?
I for one am going to try out the salesforce integration application, and am going over there right now. Thanks MailChimp! You did it again!
Yes I agree. Please create an integration with Zoho. As a small business Zoho is the easy choice.
thanks
Ann-Marie
Hi I am a salesforce.com user
When will there be full/automatic integration (date estimate is good enough). I want to use your facility but this will make it seemless.
Thanks
Michael
I would like to add a request for MC integration with Sage ACT! CRM…
Further to my query re timing (unanswered as yet) what features are not there at present which will be there when it is fully finalised? (Just so I know what I will need to do manually).
I’d love to see integration w/ vtiger crm. I’ve been testing both SugarCRM and vtiger crm and vtiger is proving to be the better crm. And more in tune with MailChimp ease of use. SugarCRM is anything but easy to use.
But vtiger’s mail component isn’t that strong. Would be great to sync my leads and contacts to MailChimp from vtiger and use MChimp to send and unsubscribe people.
By the way, I started out considering using MailChimp as the web-form-to-lead component of my CRM and to recommend it to small businesses I deal with. I see a very large portion of small businesses using the awful Constant Contact as their sole CRM tool.
I understand that you all at MailChimp want to stay narrowly focused on mail delivery, but it seems to me that with a few changes, MC could be a perfectly decent, entry-level lead generation & contact management CRM for many small businesses.
Why? vtiger, sugarcrm, even salesforce.com, treat web-to-lead as an secondary or tertiary add-on feature and give it short shrift — rather than the main way many small businesses without giant sales teams gain leads and store contacts.
Are you going to integrate with Sugar CRM?
Any chance you will integrate with SugarCRM?
have you looked into this? http://jungle.mailchimp.com/group/mailchimpsugarcrmusers
I have been using the salesforce/Mailchimp app..and it is a great start..but I know you’ve said your goal is more two way integration which, as a user, would be much desired.
Any timetable to when that might be available….don’t worry I won’t hold you to any date…just curious to know how far out is it from development.
I would also like to see a 2-way integration with Salesforce.com so that the two lists could sync.
Integration with Sage Act! would be great the swiftpage email marketing that comes pre integrated is horendously expensive.
Hello,
like so many others here, I’m eager to know if you think a 2-way integration with Salesforce is upcoming. Any other place where we could get information about that?
Since a few months we are using Salesforce as CRM software and Mailchimp to manage all our mailings.
Our goal is to import Salesforce contacts in Mailchimp and run the mailing campaigns from there.
I was very pleased when I discovered there actually was a Mailchimp Connector for Salesforce CRM, but was a little bit disappointed after I installed and did some first tests.
I still got a few questions and really hope someone could answer them for me:
1) When importing contacts in Mailchimp, is it possible to make a selection based on a custom Salesforce field, so that not all the contacts are imported?
E.g. say I only want to send out a mailing to all our technical contacts at our clients, so then I’d like to import only those Salesforce contacts with department type (=custom field) set to ‘Technical’.
2) Is it possible to import custom Salesforce field values in Mailchimp?
Thanks in advance!
Has there been any progress on CRM integration in the 2 years since this post was written?
I’m particularly interested in sending Mailchimp info to my CRM platform.
Ideally, I would like to be able to take a report such as WHO OPENED a campaign and send this information to my CRM database so I can follow-up with a phone call…
In general, we’ve focused on making that data available via our API. Then, it would be up to CRM developers to integrate with us. From time to time, we take the initiative to integrate to them, but there are a *ton* of CRMs out there. Which one are you using?
I’m actually in the process of testing several out to figure out which one to go with.
But in the last few weeks, as I’ve been falling in love with Mail Chimp and then following up with sales prospects via telephone, I’ve realized how fantastic it would be if I could integrate information about mail chimp prospects with CRM…
So I’m open to suggestions … I’d really like to find one that allows me to send information from Mail Chimp to my CRM database …
Right now, I’m just downloading to excel a list of who has opened an email the most and then calling them. It’s working well, but obviously, it would help if I could integrate it with a CRM solution.
The ones that people seem to talk about most, in terms of integration w/MailChimp, are Batchbook, Highrise, and Salesforce (in that order). Batchbook’s proactive about integrating into MailChimp. But there’s also Pearl CRM, Heap CRM, Capsule, Network Hippo, and I believe more are on the way. http://blog.mailchimp.com/features/extras/
Thank you! I will check them out … I would definitely switch to anyone that synced Mail Chimp “opens” information with CRM contacts…
Netsuite +1
Where are we on Netsuite integration?
We currently don’t have it on our dev roadmap. We’re focusing more on making our API open and available — such as for netsuite developers out there.
Hi, I´m reading about APIs and wonder if the mail chimp API allows some kind of campaign member startus integration.
I would like to tie the email marketing campaigns like event invitations. I would like to send the invitation and track if people will come or not to the event. I would like to have buttons for recipients to click based on their response. That response should change the campaign member staus in salesforce from “sent” to “will assist”. Is this kind of integration possible with the API?
thank you
You may want to look more at Eventbrite as an event mgt. solution. Then, when you want to send invitations, surveys, or marketing to attendees, Eventbrite uses the MailChimp API to integrate with us.
Don’t CRMs also have their own e-mail campaign functionality? Why would one have a CRM like Salesforce and continue to use MailChimp? Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to use both–and besides, I’d miss the monkey saying funny things everytime I logged in.
Hi Rob,
It’s kinda like sales vs. marketing. In a sense, you’re trying to accomplish the same goal with sales and marketing (make money from customers). But you have to go about sales and marketing very differently.
CRMs are great for (among a ton of other things) sending one-to-one sales emails, where you might just be talking to a “cold or semi-warm” prospect or lead. These are people who haven’t subscribed to a marketing list, but people that you perhaps just met at an event or on a plane or something. When you send a one-to-one message from a CRM, you typically don’t need to worry about stuff like unsubscribe links, and you typically shouldn’t send a big, fancy, impersonal HTML newsletter.
Email Service Providers (ESPs) like MailChimp, however, are built for sending one-to-many emails. In other words, marketing. When you cross the line from one-to-one over to one-to-many, you’re dealing with a new set of infrastructure issues, deliverability rules, spam regulations, tracking needs, and most importantly (imho) netiquette guidelines.
Use CRMs to send sales emails. Use ESPs to send marketing emails. Some CRMs try to do both. Some ESPs try to do both. Personally, I think that’s like having one “sales & marketing person” on your staff. Perfectly fine in the early days, but eventually, you’re gonna want different sales and marketing departments. Each should be really, really focused on doing their thing really well.
These integrations we’re all trying to build here are basically trying to help those “departments” talk to each other and share data about people.
Hi Ben, yeah I like your explanation; that’s truth.
We have recently implemented a better integration within MC and Salesforce so that the opted-in & outs are carried through both apps on both ways.
I really think you should work on doing that out-of-the-box for everyone (which is not complicated at all).
It’s coming.
Have been watching this blog for a gosh-awful long time and would like to now weigh-in. Disclaimer: we are a CRM and marketing automation consultancy that creates solutions based on SugarCRM.
We had been hoping for a MailChimp/SugarCRM integration for a long time and have concluded: a) MailChimp is not going to do it. b) There has been at least one third-party attempt but it is only a partial solution at best. c) We looked at creating this integration and decided that it get’s pretty messy pretty fast and if we were to allocate the required resources, it would make more sense to build it within the CRM itself, rather than attempting to synchronize the two systems. I would differ a bit with Ben in that I think the CRM (Sugar in this case) actually has “most” of the capabilities needed for one-to-many marketing emails, but MailChimp is just easier to use and has the back-end needed for higher volumes and deliverability management. Of course there are other nice things like social and rss feeds, etc., but those are the two main needs IMHO.
Soooo… Ben, we love what you’re doing but when it comes to Sugar, at least, we have now focused on super-charging the email campaign component with a true ESP backend for delivery, a set of best-practices procedures for creating and managing the campaigns, and now the final leg is a simpler templated Email editor.
But by keeping all of this within the CRM, we can do lot’s of other nice things like ROI reporting (because the campaigns are connected to the closed opportunities) and triggered workflows within the CRM for sales call follow-ups to name two.
I think you’re going to see more of the CRMs gettting better at email campaign management and squeezing out the mailchimps of the world, especially given the extensive time and difficulty we’ve seen in getting CRM integration for mailchimp.
have to agree with Chris above we are using swift mail now for most things and spending decent money on it every month for only one reason it integrates really weel with our CRM – Sage Act!
FTR, there has been no extensive time and difficulty getting some CRMs, like Batchbook, Capsule, Heap, Highrise and more integrated with MailChimp. You may be correct that some CRMs will “squeeze out MailChimp” eventually, but that’s only if the smaller, nimbler CRMs don’t squeeze *them* out first.
I don’t think act the most popular small business CRM in the world is going anywhere Ben.
Seems to me that you have hitched your colours to the wrong mast with small players like highrise and batchbook although salesforce is a good move.
I still recomend mailchimp to people without much of a CRM as it’s very userfriendly, but unles syou can get the goldmines and ACTS on board I think your growth will stumble.
Thanks John. Just for the record, we’re not hitching colors to anyone in particular. We’re just building out a robust API so that other apps can integrate easily with us. The developers that work at some CRMs are responding to their users’ requests (to integrate w/MailChimp) faster than others. This is a great example: http://blog.batchblue.com/product-update-mailchimp-integration-refresh/
Pretty sure Batchbook has pulled support for MailChimp for over a year now. Might want to amend this post.
That’s kind of a hurtful thing to say Jon. MailChimp’s UI has been #1 compared to even the best in the field – constant contact. MC’s goal to create an open API only increases the value for all of its users, regardless of what CRM they use. The ability to move databases in and out of programs that do what they do best keeps our team’s switching costs low. It seems to me that you were cornered into your solution with ACT! and Swift because it didn’t play nice with any of the best email marketing companies out there.
I didn’t criticise the user interface – in fact I said it was user friendly so what are you prattling on about?
Ahhh…good stuff. Thanks!
Good to see this thing flare up again….
Chris and John: I’m not sure about anyone getting squeezed out. If the CRMs really wanted to get good at email marketing, they’d just buy one of the existing players and integrate it. But despite the fact that some of the CRMs like SFDC have been on recent shopping sprees (e.g., Jigsaw, ManyMoon, and others), they haven’t touched email marketing and marketing automation and instead leave it to the ecosystem. Probably because the value of having that ecosystem feeding them business is a lot worth more than what they could make by providing the improved service. They’d also then have to compete against every other ESP. So IMHO, it is as good as it’s gonna get and there is little-to-no motivation for the leading CRMs to invest another nickel in it.
That’s actually an interesting point you make. Sales Force does have the ability to buy out any of these email marketing services, yet chooses not to…
Any plans to integrate with Insightly?
It is the most popular Google Apps CRM and Project Management package.
We are a startup and are basing our CRM around Insightly, so I’m interested in the follow up to Eugene.
Same here. I’m exploring Insightly and MailChimp both in Google Apps and I would really like them to integrate nicely. Thanks
Hi, Mia. I can not choose between Insightly and ZohoCRM. I just use MailChimp in Google Apps too. Of course, Insightly – free for now, but how good he is? Zoho has integrated and now I’m waiting for the same integrated into Mailchimp Insightly and do not use until any CRM system((
So is the 2-way sync with Salesforce Ben mentioned in Jan ’09 now up & running? If so, what data does it sync? Thanks.
Has the SFDC API been setup yet? I agree with David P, it’s been a while since the announcement and I just came across MailChimp. Thanks in advance! :)
Yes. an update on the MailChimp and Salesforce integration would be dandy. We currently use both Salesforce and MailChimp and would love a full integration between the two platforms.
Any news would be greatly appreciated.
Please let us know what you’re doing about this… am using another ESP as can’t get Mailchimp to give me proper two way integration with Salesforce…
Hi everyone, I’ve been working on a bi-directional sync between MailChimp and SalesForce.
At present, I only sync three fields: firstname, lastname, and email address.
My solution syncs all the list members of one MailChimp list to all the Contacts within one SalesForce Account – you tell me the relevant account and list IDs, and the software syncs every night.
My question is, is this solution worthwhile to anyone? I see many calls here for “full” sync capability between the two platforms…should I spend (several) more months developing the full-featured version, or do you think what I have already is sufficient for most MailChimp/Salesforce users?
Thanks!
On the subject of “full sync” between SF and MC, I would like to be able to see each person’s multiple list subscriptions within salesforce.
Salesforce is set up with a single “opt-out” field, as if everybody either wants 100% in or out of all email. But one of the best things about mailchimp is how each person can opt-in and opt-out of various list/group/segment subscriptions, to reflect changing levels of interest. I would like to look at a salesforce record and see check boxes for each list-segment that a person is subscribed to.
Ideally, if I added a new list segment to mailchimp, that would also sync to salesforce, and I would see a new check box for that list in each person’s SF record.
I can only speak for myself but our big problem with Mailchimp and SF is that you must take the ENTIRE SF database into Mailchimp. I want to be able to pull subsets of leads and contacts and not the entire database.
Is sugarchimp worth buying?
It would be very helpful to have MailChimp integrate with Salesforce so that we can pull in subsets of leads and contacts.
Are there any plans to introduce integration with Donor Strategy?
Can’t you just export contacts and import into salesforce? You might have to tweek the spreadsheet a bit, but still, salesforce integration would be much much easier
what is the integration with salesforce? can somebody from the company please clarify. looks like export from salesforce and import contacts into mailchimp?
Any plans for a more in depth integration? Right now all I can do is import all my Salesforce contacts into MailChimp, but what I really need to be able to do is import subsets based on Campaign, and to sync data both ways if possible.
Are there any plans to support integration efforts for Oracle CRM On Demand?
What’s the latest with the Salesforce integration? We’ve been keeping track of MailChimp’s efforts in this area for a few years but I haven’t heard of any new work on this in a while.
Our clients would be stoked to hear of a more robust integration!
Hi Sam. More announcements coming in the next couple weeks. Can’t give more details than that — sorry.
Ben, I’m looking forward to the announcements! I will be choosing an ESP very soon for my company and Salesforce integration is one of the key areas.
Looks like there hasn’t been an update with any information on enhanced integration between Sales Force and Mail Chimp. Any chance there’s an announcement coming soon?
Yes, there’s an update coming. Not sure how soon, though. We’ve been working on a deeper integration.
Ben, also watching this with interest. Just implementing Salesforce and a user of MailChimp (love it!). Keen to find out how we might tailor our SF implementation to benefit from the “deeper integration” that you are working on? Also . . . seems like it has been a long “couple of weeks” . . . any update? Thanks.
See, I knew I shouldn’t have said that. Current ETA is end of this month we’ll be going into private beta. Sigh. Sorry for the delay. No more ETAs from me again. :-/
So private beta means it’s still not available to your users?
Hi Ben,
I hope you are well. We are considering to switch to mailchimp.com, however, a full integration and 2-way synchronisation with SalesForce is a prerequisite.
Could you give me a time frame of when mailchimp are planning to release the full integration with SalesForce? That would be much appreciated. I would like to know whether it’s worth the wait.
Many thanks in advance
Lilli
Adding my vote to Lilli’s comment. We’re currently using MailChimp but due to the lack of 2-way Salesforce integration, we will likely switch in the next month unless there is an update of when it will be available. I LOVE MailChimp but this becoming extremely problematic for us. Hopeful it will be up and running soon!
Also extremely interested in Salesforce integration. We are migrating in the next few weeks and I will need to see total 2-way integration from Mailchimp into Salesforce in order to select this as a viable route for our CRM platform.
Great but about importing customer databases from accounting programs like quickbook, myob so it is easy for a business owner to send out emails to regular customers
Proper integration with SugarCRm would be amazing!!!
Can you let me know if the two way integration with Highrise is now available. If so, can you point me in the direction of more detail on this?
Thanks
I second Gemma’s comment, really need the two way integration if it’s in place, please let us know if there is any update?
Thanks
We have moved to Marketo because Salesforce.com integration of MailChimp hasn’t been satisfactory and would like to come back. Any update on this?
Really (really) would like to see 2way sync with Highrise. You’ve been talking about it for years – but nothing since your blog post in 2009…
Pretty please!
Hi – We are migrating and using Salesforce as our CRM. One of the things that worry me is that as you mentioned the functionality to sync data both ways is still not available. Do you know when it will become available?
Since writing this blog post, we’ve made a couple of different attempts at making a better SF integration. We’re not expert SF users by any means (we don’t use it at all, to be honest) but we’re committed to building something useful for our customers who do use SF. So here’s our latest attempt:
https://sites.secure.force.com/appexchange/listingDetail?listingId=a0N3000000575J9EAI
“The new MailChimp application, currently in beta launch, supports two-way list synchronization, the ability to send MailChimp email campaigns directly from Salesforce, and the ability to generate reports based on previous email activity and pass these reports to MailChimp for subsequent campaigns.”
Wow – looking a lot better already! But it only lets me work with Salesforce Leads – and we want to send emails to Contacts. Any way to add that in?
Yipee!! I’m thrilled to try it out! Will there be documentation explaining the new features?
Hi Ben,
I am installing the new App right now. Will it manage unsubscribes or will I need to still create a force.com page like explained here: http://blog.mailchimp.com/salesforce-unsubscribe/#more-7132
Hi Ben,
I’m working on implementing this for a university client. I’ve gotten the App installed using the link you posted about 11 days ago. I’ve also downloaded the install/setup PDF and everything works until I try to “Authorize Account” on the Setup page. The window that opens is at test.salesforce.com, which I think is the salesforce test server instead of the production server my clients uses. In any case, it prompts me to log in, but none of our logins work there, so can’t get past the “Authorize Account” step in the setup process. Any recommendations?
Hi Jon-
Can you verify that the login credentials are being entered accurately? What type of SalesForce account is this? Our integration requires Enterprise Level or higher. If the credentials are accurate and it is an Enterprise level or higher SalesForce account, can you contact our support team at kb.mailchimp.com?
Thanks!
We decided to use mailchimp a few month ago. Now we wanted to start by installing the mailchimp salesforce connector. But why is the app private? Should I wait some days or do not use it?
We kinda like the idea of keeping this app in a place where existing MailChimp customers who want to use Salesforce can find it on their own free will, instead of a situation where Salesforce customers stumble upon it and decide to try MailChimp. It’s hard to explain. We’re a little weird that way.
Hi everyone,
I am trying to integrate mailchimp with salesforce (in enterprise edition production), and at the time of Configuration while pressing “Authorize Account” It is redirecting me in test.salesforce.com instead of login.salesforce.com (since I am using production org, that’s why it is in-correcting my password).
Hi there, we are having the same problem as Nikhil (above comment) – at the time of Configuration while pressing “Authorize Account” I am being re-directed to test.salesforce.com instead of the Mailchimp / Salesforce account synch option? Any help would be much appreciated!
Sorry about that. We’re looking into this, and will keep you updated. If you would, please contact our support team, so they can get right back to you as soon as we fix: http://kb.mailchimp.com/
Hi Luke, our problem has been resolved- at the time of Configuration, now it is re-directing to Mailchimp / Salesforce account synch option…
Thank you Ben for you response.
I was having the same problem, but now have gotten past the configuration point as well with my installation. However, when I actually try to import contacts from MailChimp, it says the import has started, but I don’t see any new contacts/leads in Salesforce. I’ve followed the installation guide exactly. Anybody know what might be going on?
Hi Jon, I am also facing the same problem with regarding to the import the contacts.
Please help me in this issue.
Any help would be much appreciated!!!
We are still evaluating the Salesforce / Highrise application.. so far so good.
Hey, is the SF integration still in beta or it is ready for prime time?
I know the post above is from three years ago, and I’m wondering if Salesforce and MailChimp are now fully integrated? Our company is in the middle of switching to Salesforce and we want a good mailing system that will integrate back and forth with Salesforce. I would like us to also switch to MailChimp but I want to make sure the two work well together. Anyone have thoughts?
+1 here – also wondering.
Yes, please do an integration with SugarCRM (including community edition)!
Any update on the Salesforce integration? I can’t even get the beta plugin on Salesforce now and I need something in the next month or we’ll have to go with another ESP.
From what I understand, the date for their next beta version of this plugin has been pushed back to spring (not sure when). They removed the previous beta version from the App Exchange because it wasn’t working at all.
We’re in the same boat. We started developing a SF implementation last November and it went live 2 weeks ago. So far, we haven’t migrated our contacts from MailChimp to SF and can’t synchronize the two. If we can’t correct this soon, we’re going to have to choose another email provider that integrates with SF. I hate to do that because we’ve had a good experience with MailChimp.
Just curious–if you abandoned MailChimp because of SF, what did you choose? I’m hoping for integration, too, but don’t have much time, and would be a new customer for Mail Chimp.
We’re working on an advanced inetgration of MailChimp with SugarCRM. Version 1.0 will be in beta version soon.
If you’re interested in using this beta version (free of charge), contact me.
I thought my Twitter ID would display clearly, but it doesn’t. Here it is: @mathbouq

Anyone got a link for beta2?
Been holding off for this for some time, anyone try other mailing apps? Looks like vertical response is the only one listed on app exchange
G
I’d love to hear that the salesforce app which was in beta some time back is ready for release soon! I’m desperate to have this, else will have to look elsewhere. Hope to have the good news soon!
Any news on this? Still would be very nice to have.
I would be very interested to get more information on a successful 2 way sync that works for mailChimp and SF.com
Very keen to see SalesForce / MailChimp integration as well as everyone else by the look of it! Happy to participate in testing programme if it’s being offered.
Is it finally here?
http://connect.mailchimp.com/integrations/salesforce
I understand what companies are attempting to do with installing CRM and Salesforce.com’s and the like but I can’t help but see these programs are often counter-productive. Too much time is spent reporting and tracking and not enough is spent doing what they need to complete projects. Just my thoughts.
Do you still have full 2-way integration with Batchbook? The video link you give doesn’t work, and Batchbook doesn’t include MailChimp on their integrations page.
Also, any update on the Highrise integration?
Hi Carl, Batchbook recently released a new version of their integration that now supports 2-way integration. Check out all the new details here: http://eepurl.com/qo175 The folks over at Zapier have created an integration between MailChimp and Highrise using one of their “zaps” and you can find out more at the following link: http://eepurl.com/qo2nr
Sales force was pretty difficult for me to use and I’m a web developer. Please reply if there’s an integration with SugarCRM.
Hmmmmmm, I don’t have one that I’ve tried Jessica, but I was able to find this one in our integration directory. It looks like they might be offering something close to what you’re talking about.
Very cool! Definitely not a fan of manually exporting and importing. Thanks!
Hi There,
Has a full intergration been achieved with Salesforce?
Best regards,
Agis
Nothing built by MailChimp. We’ve been pointing people to Cazoomi’s and Zapier’s integrations:
