After you send an email campaign, sometimes you want to post a link on Twitter, so your friends (and their friends) can see it too.
We just made that easy. Go to the Campaigns Tab, and look for this sharing icon:
Click that link, and we’ll take you to a page where you can directly post a link to Twitter (we’ll even shorten the URL for you with our own MailChimpy “eepurl.com”). It’s a nice time saver, so you don’t have to go find the Campaign-Archive link for your campaign, shorten it in TinyURL, login to Twitter, etc.
If you’re logged in to Facebook, MySpace, StumbleUpon, Digg, Magnolia or Delicious, you can also easily post a link to your campaign there.

This may quite possibly be the deal maker for me. I’ve been comparing email marketing solutions and I’m really impressed with MailChimp’s offerings, but this makes it for me.
I do have one question though, I can see how this would work with Facebook and Twitter, but how does it work with Stumble Upon, Digg, and other social bookmarking? I wouldn’t want it to look like I’m always only pimping my own stuff, especially to my followers.
There’s no follow up function on this blog (surprising, really). Would you be willing to email me with a response?
Hi Dave,
For Digg, we’d pass the URL of your email campaign’s archive over to their “submit a new link” page. Then, you can (and definitely should) actually modify the title and description so it doesn’t look like you’re just auto-submitting to everything in sight (which would be lame).
Ben,
First, Kudos to you and your team on a top notch product. I’m just launch my first campaing with MailChimp and am extremely happy with the ease of use and impressive resources that you have.
Second, related to this post, I’m very impressed with the social network integration. My question is around reporting. Is there a way to track the hits on the archive email?
Thanks, again
Randy
is there anyway to allow customers to select which social sites we’d like to use in the *|MC:SHARE|* (that would be amazingly cool)
I still think this is a GREAT feature for us to use! I’m all about spreading the work — socially!
Not as of right now. This is the 2nd or 3rd request we’ve had for that though, so we’re considering it. Thanks!

Hey – monkey lovers!
We are totally loving our Mailchimp service – can’t believe we have been manually managing our databases, manually sending them, and manually managing bounces unsubs etc.. now it is so easy – plus we get the added value of your simian humour!
Anyway – back to the banana in hand!
Facebook integration.
I notice that you can share the link to your friends, but how about Facebook Pages integration?
I imagine most MailChimp users are businesses/brands/organisations rather than individuals – so therefore being able to add it to a page or share with ‘fans’ would be most useful. What say you?
Cheers
Paul
Right now, the easiest way to share with your Facebook Pages is to copy the shortened URL generated when you share with your Facebook friends, and paste that into the status update box on your page. We realize that this is not a very graceful solution and will definitely pass the “share to Facebook pages” idea along to our devs.
Figured out how to paste the eepurl onto my business page. Thanks! But you didn’t explain how the eepurl automatically showed up on my personal facebook page, when that isn’t connected to my business/mailchimp stuff whatsoever. I use a business e-mail address, so the association couldn’t have been made that way???
Hi Amanda
Thanks for the reply, it’s not such a hardship to copy/paste for sure. I look forward to hearing what the devs think of the FB pages idea – while you are on the line to them – maybe mention FBconnect and Twitter 0auth too?
Peaces

I’ve been beating the drum here at the nonprofit I work for to catch up to everyone else in the world with social networking – for the sole purpose of being able to utilize more of Mail Chimp’s awesome features. Sometimes I shake with excitement when I just think about the possibilities…
[...] Twitter and Facebook Integration [...]
Quick update on the social sharing feature – we’ll be tracking stats for tweets and re-tweets in v4.2: http://blog.mailchimp.com/tracking-twitter-tweets-about-your-email-campaigns-in-mailchimp/
Hi, can we add share buttons for only a specific text on the newsletter, rather than for the whole thing?
Thanks!
Looks like a great product and love the flexibility and the way you guys think.
Can MailChimp be integrated into EasyMemberPro with an existing email setup that comes with EasyMemberPro? I want MailChimp to be able to take over where the existing emails finishes. Does that make sense?
Hi Brad, it’s probably something you’d have to ask EasyMemberPro to do. Our API would make it easy for them, though. http://blog.mailchimp.com/api/
Is this feature available with the free version of MailChimp?
@Tony – absolutely! All of our features are available to both free and paid accounts.
Ben or Amanda would be able to help out with this question; with the Facebook integration I noticed several posts from people that are in their stream with the title “Sample Email Template From MailChimp” how can they change the facebook sharing to no longer auto populate the title as “Sample Email Template From MailChimp”
New to this stuff, so please be patient. Sent my first campaign last night, and the eepurl showed up on my personal f/b page. (which was sweet, but …) I thought my Mailchimp was set up only with my business e-mail info, so I’m confused how it got to my personal f/b. Why didn’t it paste to the business f/b page, being that’s the one that includes my business e-mail address???
Right now, there is not a direct integration between MailChimp emails and Fan Pages. The easiest way to do this is to use our Social Share feature – http://eepurl.com/uuX – to post your email to your personal Facebook profile. This will create a shortened eepurl.com link which you can then easily copy and paste into your Fan Page status box.
We are working on a more direct integration between MailChimp and Fan Pages, but no timeline for that quite yet.
is it possible to include in the emails sent with mailchimp not only a “forward to a friend” link but also a “share with your network” link?
Yes, it’s called *|MC:SHARE|* and here’s a blog post with more details and customization options: http://blog.mailchimp.com/new-social-site-merge-tags/
thank you Ben, I will try it on my next mailing. Is there a tutorial video on this?
Hi There,
Can you implement this to RSS driven campaigns? I would like my email to be posted to twitter automatically as per RSS scedule does.
Thanks
Ian
Yep, works for RSS campaigns too. The little checkbox to activate it is in the campaign building process, on the screen where you enter your subject line and set your tracking options.
I activated quite a time ago the RSS driven campaign and I have checked that little box to autopost the email campaign on Twitter but the URL is.. oh well… quite long. Not the URL shortened one. Where did I go wrong?
Is there anyway to put a “share on Facebook” link in the emails so each of my customers can add it to their fb status easily?
Yep, you can use our social-share tags (use the Facebook one). The code for that is at: http://blog.mailchimp.com/merge/
Hello,
How can I connect my proffesional service page on FB with Mail Chimp?
At the moment it connects only to my my “normal” FB Page.
Thank you.
Alvaro
This might help. Go to “If you have more than one Page attached to your Facebook profile”
http://blog.mailchimp.com/kb/article/how-do-i-add-a-mailchimp-signup-form-to-my-facebook-profile/
Can you somehow link your blog back to mail chimp so we can send those blogs out in an email?
Thanks!
If I understand you correctly, you may be looking for our RSS-to-email functionality: http://blog.mailchimp.com/rss/
Hi Ben,
On linkedin, I run a linkedin group with 3000 subscribers. Would be nice to send newsletter to not only my personal contacts but also to my group members/subscribers.
Thanks,
Mark
Can you support multiple twitter accounts by lists? We group our lists by local chapters as we are a decentralized non-profit organization. For us, it doesn’t make sense to have a single generic twitter feed for ALL of our global campaigns. We’d like to have the option of linking individual twitter accounts with one or more lists. Right now, it’s pretty much all or nothing.
Thanks!
BTW, the more we evaluate Mailchimp, the more amazing it looks!
Multiple twitter accounts by list – that’s a common request. I’m not sure about the status of it w/our dev team, but I can tell you it’s requested often enough that it’s very likely to happen one day.
Hi! Love you guys, and I also love selling my music through Bandcamp. (music.marcfarre.com)
But is there a way to integrate Bandcamp’s signup forms with yours, so that I don’t have to do it manually? Or is that something you already do?
Thanks so much, keep up the great work!
Marc
MailChimps: Is there a way to edit the default tweet? I’d like to add in some #hashtags.
Thanks!
Yes, if you use the manual tweet option. It’s the “share campaign” link under the campaign on the Campaigns screen. It opens up a dialogue that lets you customize the tweet.
Ben, thanks for your reply but I wanted to edit the default tweet from the archive page so that when readers shared/tweeted it would be prepopulated with #hashtags.
I did try the manual tweet, and thought that I could save that as a new default, but that functionality wasn’t available (or apparent to me).
Hmm, that’s something I’ll definitely suggest to our dev team.
You can actually do this using the *|TWITTER:TWEET|* merge tag.
You’ll want to use the following syntax in order to include your own custom text (as opposed to the subject line of your newsletter)–
*|TWITTER:TWEET [$text=my custom text here, no quotes]|*Hope that helps!
How can I social share my mail chimp newsletter on Linked In?
Sorry, we haven’t integrated with Linkedin yet.
THnx,
this is a helpfull feature.
Some questions:
- if I post to Twitter in this way, will people be able to subscribe in an easy fashion?
- Can I choose the text of the tweet, or will it be an automated one?
- How do I invite people to subscribe personally, via mail or Twitter?
JJ
I am trying to figure out how to link my campaign with our facebook page. I am a total rookie and I know this is the most simple task but I can not figure it out, does anyone know how to help?!?! Thanks
