A few weeks ago, Facebook announced that as of August 23rd (yesterday) they would be shrinking the width of custom Page tabs from 760px down to 520px. They provided a preview of the changes to Page admins, and many of you contacted us to inquire how the MailChimp signup app would handle the shift.
We’re happy to report that early last week we pushed a change to the Facebook app that will automatically scale your MailChimp signup form to fit the new custom tab dimensions. There’s no need to reinstall the app or alter your signup form from within MailChimp so no worries, mates!
Ahhh so happy to hear that! I had a feeling you guys would come thru
Thanks! I knew you brilliant guys would take care of that in your usual thoughtful and efficient way.
One less thing to think about–thank you!
When will this take effect?
If you view the public version of your Page (the version you’d see if you’re not logged into Facebook), you’ll see that it’s already in place.
Ah, so it is! Awesome, thanks!
You said it’s already in place if we view the public version, but mine still remains the old width: http://www.facebook.com/SeeYouThereInvitations. Why is that?
Hm, you may want to clear your browser cache & cookies or alternately, try checking your page in another browser where you’re not logged into Facebook. I just looked, and it appears to be all good.
If you’re still having trouble though, feel free to contact our support team so they can look into it. http://blog.mailchimp.com/support
This is good, but curious as to why I can’t see the change in the logged in view.
To be honest, I’m not sure. My best guess is that Facebook deployed the change to page admins via some sort of preview/sandbox environment, and the preview state is still showing up for some folks. Alternately, it could just be a browser cache issue.
hmm, it seems to have cut off the right hand side of my signup form – is it because I have a 600px header graphic?

Hi Marc,
I just checked it out and everything looks properly scaled from over here. Have you checked your form from a different browser, not logged into Facebook? It should display properly.
Am I missing something here?
When I look at the page and I’m NOT logged in, the email signup tab displays ok, but I’ve just measured the form and it’s still 600px wide.
When I AM logged in it misses off the RHS of my sign up form.
The MC page is fine (522px) as are some others I’ve checked.
Same problem viewing in IE as in FF (both with caches and cookies cleared). I’ll check it on another computer when I get the chance.
Thanks anyway.
I’ve seen a few FB pages (i.e., http://www.facebook.com/theAMIBA) where the signup is nicely integrated into the left-hand sidebar. Any chance of a MailChimp app like this coming up?
Amanda, none of your suggestions work so I contacted support. Thank you.
@Scott – on theAMIBA site fb page has a contact form not email signup form. They probably created that themselves.
You should have seen how quick I clicked on this headline to find out just the thing you said would be ok. Now I can breath. You guys are great.
I am still having issues with the dimensions. It did not work for me. I had no idea until now that Mail Chimp had made changes. Thanks for trying Mail Chimp, but can you please make mine the right dimensions?

The FB app pulls the signup form dimensions from your MailChimp hosted signup form.
So if your MailChimp hosted form says that “I’m 600 pixels wide” our FB app will take that, and resize for FB appropriately.
We’ve found that, in some cases, users’ signup forms don’t have the “I’m 600px wide” information set.
It sometimes helps to simply open up your signup form designer in MailChimp for that list, and simply click “edit” on the header graphic. That’ll open up our header designer, and then we’ll insert those header dimensions. Save it, and the FB app should work.
Also, note that some people aren’t seeing the new FB width if they’re logged in to their FB admin area. You have to log out of FB to see it. That’s a strangeplexity of Facebook that we can’t explain.
Thanks Ben! That worked!!
Great stuff, thanks Ben. Edited the form like you said and it’s fine now.
:’( I’m disappointed with how the labels wrap in the automatically-generated address field set when the sign-up form is added to our facebook page. The form is forced inside the 520px tab, and everything scales well, just not the address fields. Is there any way to make the fields themselves narrower? Or perhaps make the input wrap down to the next line below the label, instead of the reverse. There’s a problem with the field set clearing the contents, too. Decreasing the margins and text size doesn’t make a big enough change to allow it to fit on one line. http://www.facebook.com/uwgbalums I’m viewing it in FireFox on a Mac. I’m getting the same results in my Windows emulator (IE8), too.
Hi Kimberly, thanks for sending this along. Sent it on to our devs. They’re looking into it.
