EepURL is a new MailChimp Labs project we just released into the wild.
It’s something we had to create for our email + Twitter integration last month (which has been used for over 60,000 email campaigns so far).
While working on that project, we just thought “what the heck, might as well make it a live product too.” So there you go.
It’s a lot like TinyURL, and it’s even got its own bookmarklet you can add to your browser toolbar, but you can also post your eepurls directly to Twitter, or email them to a friend.

Now if you could update the *|ARCHIVE|* tag in MailChimp to use an eepurl.com instead of the current archive link that’s too long for mobile browsers, that would be killer. Unsubscribe and forward to a friend links would be nice too.
@Andrew – Here’s some trivia for you. A long long time ago, when we first introduced the campaign-archive.com feature, we got blacklisted in a matter of hours.
Suddenly, out of nowhere, spam filters were detecting a “fresh, newly-registered domain name” present inside of millions of emails around the globe. Took us a while to get off all those blacklists.
It was then we decided: No more new domains inside of MailChimp campaigns.
Maybe in a year or so, when that domain develops a bit more “credit history,” we’ll consider putting it into our emails.
good stuff, thank you; i at once put that bookmarklet to the firefox-toolbar.
@Ben – thanks for the trivia, sounds like a good reason.
Perhaps a short url functionality could be factored in on the campaign-archive.com urls in the meantime rather than absolutely needing eepurl.com? I had a few email replies on one of our recent campaigns from people who had problems getting it to work, and it looked like the “view in browser” link cut off at 75 and wrapped the last 16 characters on the next line.
Just a thought, thanks from a happy MailChimp user!
Is there any thought about putting a click tracker into eepurl? We’re starting to use eepurl for all the long URLs we post to twitter and would love to be able to see how many people follow the links.
You’re not the first to request this feature. I think the devs have some idea on how to do it, but not sure when.
Can’t figure out how to make the bookmarklet work in IE8. Works fine in Firefox.
Got it. Right-click on Chimpify This!, add to Favorites, say OK to warning; in Favorites, right-click link, add to Favorites Bar.
Hadn’t seen the favorites bar before, don’t want another bar, but at least it works.
Is there any way of automating this great service with a very basic API call so our web pages can use it?
Hey there…I like the Twitter integration but want to be able to see the clicks from the eepurl? is this availible similar to how bit.ly allows you to see how many peeps click a tweeted link?

Yes. It was launched a little afterwards: http://blog.mailchimp.com/tracking-twitter-tweets-about-your-email-campaigns-in-mailchimp/
