Why we love them: The music obsessives behind Sacred Bones understand that good things aren’t always easy to find. And by releasing everything from gothic synth-pop (Zola Jesus) to straight-ahead punk rock (The Men), locked-in-the-groove drone (Moon Duo) to spooky, avant-folk (Amen Dunes), they’ve proven there are all sorts of stylistic rocks worth upturning. They realize that great art deserves great packaging, too, and their admirable design aesthetic applies a loose template to all their full-length albums a’la classic record labels like Blue Note.
