This is a pretty old blog post (boy, does it bring back memories though). We’re no longer at v3. We’re at v6.7. Wow.

Hello Mr. Sprague, the browser support requirements listed here are for the sender, not the recipients. Your old rich clients could be using Compuserve, and so long as they can read email, they’ll get your MailChimp newsletters. It’s you who would need a reasonably modern computer, internet connection, browser, (and tech know-how) to use MailChimp.

Unfortunate ! I have a carpet cleaning company. My abasolute best clients are elderly (Rich) clients. These people are NOT teck savy and sometimes are just luckey to be able to use email .. however if i lost just a couple of these very influential customers because of some Browser incompatability, I might very likely go out of business.. as If I offended these fiew I would loose ALL there friends..I worked in Computing in 1963, with one of the first IBM main frame computers in the state, and I saw then how easy it is to isolate ones self behind a desk, books, or code. Because some of us did not do so, we were able to accomplish things IBM said were impossable… 1/4 of elderly people do not use up to date technology , these customers will be lost if up to date technology is not backward compatable …. Sorry apparently I will not be able to use Mail Chimp..( along with the 200 other carpet cleaners on our on line forum..) Best Wishes …. Green Safe Cleaning (allergy abatement specialest)

Is IE8 supported yet? I’ve noticed some pages not rendering properly (eg campaign or list page) when using IE8 but it works fine with Chrome.

Hi Vere, I think that since we posted this in 2008, we’ve broadened our browser support slightly. However, I should point out that MailChimp caters to a particular audience type (lots of creatives, programmers, and “power users”), so our browser usage stats will tend to be skewed compared to the general public.

We host for dozens of clients and your web log stats on browsers seems heavily skewed. Safari is definitely not that popular on sites that don’t restrict IE6. I’m sure you have debated this with smart people, but technology may move quick but people and companies don’t. I have no plans to upgrade to IE7 so no Mail Chimp for me. bummer.

I shame about the support of IE6 support especially when you work in a company, where most internal system are browser based, and therefore don’t change version on a day to day basic.
That’s maybe also the reason for the high number of Firefox users – because IE don’t work for them. I can’t update a single add on to my computer, some I’m domed to find another tool.
